Former president John Dramani Mahama

Former President John Mahama is begging Ghanaians to rescue the country from running into an abyss ahead of the December general election.

In his view, the Akufo-Addo administration is steering the ship of State into a bottomless pit and it will take only the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to rescue it.

Mr Mahama made the call at the launch of the party’s fundraising campaign for the elections in December 2020.

The NDC among others launched its ‘Adopt a constituency/branch policy’ and an electronic platform dubbed ‘NDC GHANA’ to enable the party run its electioneering campaign.

Addressing charged supporters of the NDC, the former President described the incumbent New Patriotic Party government as a government that has gotten so much but has delivered little.

“Ghanaians look forward to the NDC stepping up to the plate and wrestling power from this government that promised so much but delivered so little,” he said.

On the fund launch, Mr Mahama was confident the public would actively donate to a cause which would lead to the rescue of the country.

“Ghanaians are dissatisfied with the corruption, nepotism, dishonesty, hardship, job losses, insincerity, and insensitivity of the Akufo-Addo administration,” he said.

He expressed hope that the platforms that have been launched would protect the identities of donors from a vengeful government that may clamp down on party financiers.

The former President stressed that, victory for the party in 2020 would depend on the efforts of party executives.

Mr Mahama urged the branch executives to frequently visit their constituencies to whip up more support for the party.
