A senior lecturer at the Ghana School of Law, Moses Foh Amoaning, has descended heavily on the United Nation’s Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty and Human Rights for describing Ghana’s speaker of Parliament as “deluded” for stating his position on homosexuality in the country.
The subject of gayism and appreciation for the rights of the LGBT community in Ghana has been ongoing for a while now and many, including Speaker of Parliament, Mike Oquaye have condemned and rejected the idea of neutralizing Ghana’s laws against the practice.
Most recent to have reignited public discourse on the subject is United Nation’s Special Rapporteur.

Speaking in an interview after undertaking a Human Rights fact-finding visit to Ghana to assess government efforts to eradicating poverty, Philip Alston said Prof. Oquaye’s comment is unacceptable because there is a significant gay population in Ghana.
“I believe that if he thinks there are not a very significant proportion of gay people in Ghana, he is deluding himself. You cannot wish away a physical fact. The percentage of gay people in any population is significant,” he said.
UK Prime Minister, Theresa May has also suggested that the UK’s role in introducing anti-gay laws in former colonies such as Ghana is responsible for their strong stance against the practice today; reiterating the UK’s readiness to assist such countries repeal anti-gay laws and accept the rights of such persons.

But reacting to the issue, Moses Foh Amoaning said homosexuality can never be endorsed in Ghana.
“Nana Addo is too intelligent and will not condone such stupidity. You sit there to call the speaker of your parliament deluded. The UN Special Rapporteur is so bigoted. Ghana will never endorse such uncivilized act which the Bible frowns upon and so they should look elsewhere” he stated.

He, therefore, called on President Akufo-Addo to immediately state his stance on the matter as soon as possible.
