A leadership tussle has emerged at the Sofoline Terminal in Kumasi, with a group of drivers claiming to have removed the terminal’s GPRTU chairman, Albert Boamah, over alleged irregularities in the management of activities at the station.

The development occurred on Thursday, October 8, 2026, amid growing tensions at the terminal over an eviction notice and a dispute surrounding the use of an office complex reportedly earmarked for banking operations.

The drivers had earlier protested a directive to vacate the premises by Friday, October 9, warning that any attempt to forcibly remove them could lead to confrontation.

However, on Thursday, some drivers and representatives of transport unions at the terminal moved to remove Albert Boamah from his position as chairman.
