Kwaku Nkansah “PaaNii”, an aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Treasurer position, has withdrawn from the race, citing circumstances beyond his control.

In a statement issued on Thursday, August 20, 2026, Mr Nkansah announced his decision to discontinue his campaign while reaffirming his commitment and loyalty to the NPP.

He expressed gratitude to his supporters for their backing throughout his campaign, describing their commitment as “humbling”.

“This was not an easy decision, and I know it is not the news my supporters were hoping for. But circumstances beyond my control have made it necessary at this time. My loyalty to the NPP remains unwavering, and I will continue to serve and support our party in every way I can. I wish the other contestants the very best,” he said.

Mr Nkansah did not disclose the specific circumstances that led to his withdrawal.

He, however, pledged to remain active within the party and urged NPP members to maintain unity ahead of the National Treasurer election.

He called on party members to rally behind whichever candidate eventually emerges victorious.

Mr Nkansah also apologised for any inconvenience his decision may cause his supporters and wished the NPP and Ghana well.

His withdrawal adds to developments ahead of the NPP’s upcoming national executive elections, as contenders continue to position themselves for various leadership positions within the party.
