The Zambrama Chief in Kpando Municipality in the Volta Region, Alhaji Abdul Rafiu Salifu has called on the government to create more employment opportunities for youths in Zongo communities to help discourage their involvement in Immoral behaviour related activities.
The chief made the appeal during the 2026 Eid-ul-Adha celebrations held in Kpando, where Muslims gathered to mark the end of the holy month with prayers, thanksgiving, and community activities.
Speaking in an interview with Adom News, the chief expressed concern about the growing unemployment situation among young people in Zongo communities, noting that the lack of jobs and economic opportunities is pushing some youths into Immoral behaviours in the Municipality.
According to him, many young people have completed Nursing Training colleges, Teacher Training Colleges, Universities and are willing to work and contribute positively to national development but are often left without support, vocational training, or sustainable sources of income.
He therefore appealed to the government, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to prioritize job creation and skills training initiatives targeted at Zongo youths to help improve their livelihoods and secure their future.
The chief stressed that investing in the youth would not only reduce crime and immoral behaviour-related activities but also promote peace, stability, and development within the communities.
He further urged parents, religious leaders, and community elders to continue guiding the youth towards responsible lifestyles while encouraging them to pursue education, entrepreneurship, and lawful means of earning a living.
The Eid-Adha celebration brought together Muslim faithful, traditional leaders, opinion leaders, and residents from various communities in and around Kpando to celebrate the occasion in unity and peace.
