According to the National Sports Authority (NSA), Kotoko will use the Accra Sports Stadium as a new venue for its home games as they make it into the group phase of the CAF Champions League.

Plans are advanced to close down the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi in line with a holistic renovation exercise.

The Director-General of NSA, Professor Peter Twumasi speaking on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports, said “There’s no cause for alarm. Even if it rains, they [Kotoko] can still use the pitch as the pitch takes about 40-45 minutes to dry up when it’s raining heavily. The reason why we couldn’t play the Hearts and Kotoko was that they are not supposed to play any game after 6pm.”

He revealed that “Kotoko might have to continue playing their African games in Accra over the closure of the Baba Yara Stadium for renovation works. We are pushing for it to happen.”

The renovation forms part of a grand scheme to improve the working standards of the various stadia in the country ahead of 2023 All African Games which the country has won the bid to host.

In a related development, he expressed his readiness for the 8th Edition of African Legends Night which will take place on Saturday, September 28th at the Grand Arena Dome, Accra International Conference Centre. “I will be at the Conference center on the 28th September for the African legends night because music heals the soul so I will be present to dance and also socialise.”

The annual music event will be witnessing two foreign African music greats on the same stage in one night, Awilo Longomba and 2Face. The two will be joined by a team of Ghanaian music greats led by Mr Music Man, Kojo Antwi and Ofori Amponsah.
