The government on Monday, October 29, 2018, asked Prof Obiri Danso to step aside following violent protest by students of the university.

The National Council for Tertiary Education has informed the Vice-Chancellor to make way for the interim governing council to take over the administration of the university.

This decision, according to the concerned students, was the best news they have heard since they gained admission to KNUST.

Mr Yiadom Boakye said they christened Prof Obiri Danso Kumasi ‘Adolf Hitler’ due to his dictatorial and oppressive leadership.

He believes the actions and inactions of these persons led to Monday’s protest and their continuous stay in office will not augur well for the university.

Mr Yiadom Boakye called on the government to also ask the Dean of Students, Head of Security and the University Relations Officer to also step aside for investigations and other relevant discussions to continue.
