The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has announced a massive clean-up exercise at Alabar in the Afia Kobi Electoral Area on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
The exercise, which forms part of the government’s monthly sanitation programme, will also coincide with activities marking this year’s World Cleanup Day.
The Assembly said all trading and commercial activities within Alabar and the designated areas will remain closed from 6:00am to 12:00pm to allow residents and other stakeholders to participate fully in the exercise.
The affected areas stretch from Apagyafie Crossroads to Doctor Mensah and from Aboabo Station to Apagyafie Crossroads.
Commercial vehicles will also not be allowed to operate within the affected areas during the stipulated period.
The KMA is therefore urging residents, traders, businesses, organised groups and other individuals within the Afia Kobi Electoral Area to participate fully in the exercise.
The Assembly said the exercise is intended to promote environmental cleanliness and encourage collective responsibility towards maintaining a clean community.
It further called on commercial vehicle operators to comply with the temporary restrictions and cooperate with officials to ensure the exercise proceeds smoothly.
