Member of Parliament for Takoradi constituency, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah is urging his constituents to be more security conscious.

According to him, the increasing kidnapping cases in the oil city are due to security compromises in the area.

His comment follows cries of three families that have lost their daughters to kidnappers’. It has been more than a month after three girls went missing in Takoradi.

The police are yet to establish any strong leads to arrest the perpetrators although they say they are on a manhunt for the accomplice of the Nigerian kidnapper Samuel Wilson Utoderg who has confessed to the crime and has been in police custody for weeks.

This unfortunate incident remains engraved in the hearts of many Ghanaians who are unhappy with the Western region police’s handling of the case.

But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Hon. Okyere Darko-Mensah said the police is doing their best in such a sensitive situation.

He noted that, it is obvious the kidnappers are working with syndicates thus the security need to do a thorough job to arrest them.

The Takoradi MP sympathized with the affected families who have been left traumatized by the incident.

Hon. Okyere Darko-Mensah said he together with other MPs will on Monday visit the families as the police work to arrest the culprits.
