A K9 detection dog has helped American authorities intercept a consignment of prohibited agricultural goods from Ghana at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
The dog, named Rowdy, flagged a bag arriving from Ghana that was found to contain about 72 pounds of yams, vegetables and spices.
In a post shared on X, officials confirmed that all the items were banned and were prevented from entering the United States.
“K9 Rowdy had a busy day at JFK! He alerted to a bag from Ghana with 72 lbs of yams, veggies, and spices, all prohibited. Thanks to Rowdy, these items were stopped at the border,” the post read.

The United States enforces strict rules on certain agricultural products to safeguard its farming sector and block the entry of pests and plant diseases.
Authorities closed the post with a light-hearted tribute to the hardworking dog: “Who’s a good dog?”
