Former England captain and Chelsea legend John Terry has sent a heartfelt goodwill message to actor Yaw Dabo following their viral encounter during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In a video message, Terry wished the actor and his academy success while expressing hope of visiting Ghana in the near future.
“It’s John Terry here. I want to wish Samuel Dabo and his soccer academy all the best. I hope to see you guys soon. Good luck, my friend,” Terry said.
The message comes weeks after the pair’s memorable meeting in Boston during Ghana’s World Cup clash with England, which quickly became a social media sensation.
Yaw Dabo excitedly approached the Chelsea icon after the match, repeatedly calling out “John Telly!” in a moment that amused football fans across the world. Despite the mispronunciation, Terry warmly embraced the encounter, posing for a selfie with the actor.
Sharing the photo on social media afterwards, the former defender described Dabo as an interesting character and suggested he belonged on television.
What began as a light-hearted viral moment has since blossomed into a meaningful show of support for the Samuel Dabo Soccer Academy.
Terry’s latest message has been widely welcomed by fans, with the former England international also expressing his desire to visit the academy in Ghana, a move many believe could inspire the young footballers training under Yaw Dabo’s guidance.
