Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) John Boadu has been elected National Chairman at the National Delegates Conference in Kumasi putting him ahead of his four challengers.
Mr Boadu defeated former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko and former NPP National Chairman Paul Afoko to secure the chairmanship position.
His election was part of the party’s national executive polls, which attracted more than 7,000 delegates to vote for officers to fill nine key positions.
His victory followed a last-minute alliance with fellow aspirant Sammy Crabbe, who withdrew from the contest and called on his supporters to back Mr Boadu.
