Hawa Koomson elected NPP’s National Women’s Organiser

Former Awutu senya East MP, Mavis Hawa Koomson has been elected National Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

She defeated her sole contender, Hajia Safia Mohammed, in the party’s National Delegates Conference held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026.

Over 7,000 delegates voted to elect new officers to steer the party’s affairs ahead of the 2028 election.

Justin Frimpong Kodua was also re-elected General Secretary after polling 4,486 votes in the contest.

Former Ngleshie Amanfro Member of Parliament Sylvester Tetteh placed second with 1,340 votes, while Eugene Boakye Antwi secured 162 votes. Dr Charles Dwamena polled 126 votes.

In the National Youth Organiser race, Abanga Fuseini Yakubu won with 1,550 votes to defeat five other aspirants.

Clement Opoku Gyamfi came second with 631 votes, followed by Michael Osei Boateng with 78 votes. Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei Asamoah, the then Deputy National Youth Organiser, polled 46 votes, while Vera Oye Bram-Larbi received 44 votes. Alfred Kumi Ababio secured 25 votes.

The elections formed part of the NPP’s exercise to elect national executives who will oversee the party’s operations and help prepare it for the 2028 general election.
