Abanga Fuseini Yakubu has been elected National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), securing victory in the party’s national executive elections held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026.

Mr Fuseini polled 1,550 votes to defeat five other contenders in the keenly contested race.

His closest challenger, Clement Opoku Gyamfi, obtained 631 votes, while Michael Osei Boateng secured 78 votes. Vera Oye Bram-Larbi polled 44, Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei Asamoah, the then Deputy National Youth Organiser, received 46 votes, and Alfred Kumi Ababio garnered 25 votes.

The election formed part of the NPP’s National Delegates Conference, which brought together more than 7,000 delegates from across the country to elect nine national executives. The Electoral Commission supervised the process, with voting conducted across 31 polling stations at the stadium.

During his campaign, Mr Fuseini pledged to prioritise youth mobilisation and strengthen the party’s youth wing.

A major campaign target was to mobilise four million youth votes for the party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, ahead of the 2028 general election.

His election means he will succeed Salam Mustapha as the leader of the NPP’s youth wing, taking responsibility for coordinating and mobilising young members and supporters nationwide.

He is also expected to work with the party’s national executives and other structures to strengthen its youth base as the NPP prepares for the next general election.
