Reading competition has been held for the aged as part of the International Literacy Day Celebration at Assin Enyinabrem in Assin South District of the Central region.

The program was organized by Vanside Adult Development in collaboration with Engage Now Africa foundation.

Some participants of the program recited A, B, C, D whiles others demonstrated their reading and spelling potential at the program.

Before the major activities of the program started, Florence Baidoo thrilled the participants and dignitaries by reciting the national pledge of Ghana.

The excitement of the program was at its peak, when some nonformal educational students unveiled their potentials in spellings.

Some of them tried their hands on three letter words whilst others went beyond that to determine how positive the program is impacting their lives.

Some elderly persons who participated in the program also unveiled their reading potentials.

The Assin South DCE, Derrick Owusu Ambrose, who was impressed with the performance of the nonformal educational students, pleadged to give the budget allocation to support the program next year.
