Veteran Ghanaian actor Fred Amugi has made a candid revelation about his views on marriage, saying he would not choose the institution if he had the opportunity to start life all over again.

Speaking in an interview on Father’s Day, Fred Amugi explained that although many people perceived his marriage as peaceful and successful, there were challenges that were not visible to the public.

The actor attributed some of the challenges in modern marriages to changing societal dynamics and evolving gender roles.

He observed that in previous generations, women were largely homemakers, but today’s women are balancing domestic responsibilities with careers and other pursuits.

According to him, the increasing emphasis on equality between men and women has transformed traditional family structures and altered expectations within marriages and child-rearing.

“If I had to start life all over again, marriage wouldn’t be part of the plan. My friends used to say there was peace in my marriage, but I knew there were issues low-key.

“Previously, women were more domestic, not corporate. Now women are all-round. There is equity in the system. Now if you talk, a woman can talk back at you,” he said.

Despite his reservations about marriage, the veteran actor stressed that he still believes in companionship, noting that friendship can provide the fulfilment many people seek in relationships.

His comments have since sparked conversations on social media, with many weighing in on the changing nature of marriage and relationships in contemporary society.
