Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Smith, has expressed his willingness to reconcile with former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings after years of strained relations.
Ambassador Smith, who once served as spokesperson for the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, revealed that his fallout with the Rawlings family began after he was dismissed from his position via a text message.
In an interview on Accra-based Channel One TV, Mr. Smith admitted that the rift remains unresolved, particularly with some of the Rawlings children.
“Some of the children still don’t want to talk to me. Dr. Zanetor Rawlings is very down-to-earth. I’ve had a couple of meetings with her,” he noted.
He added that he would welcome an opportunity to reconcile with Mrs. Rawlings.
“I would have loved to make up with the mother [Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings]. If I had the chance, I would explain things to her, and she would see that I wasn’t wrong. But for some reason, she also dislikes me,” Smith stated.
