Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams says he will not comment on the decision to appoint or dismiss the Black Stars’ head coach following the departure of Carlos Queiroz.
Queiroz left his position after Ghana made a disappointing start to their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign.
The Portuguese coach’s departure has raised questions about who will take charge of the Black Stars as they attempt to revive their qualification hopes after defeats by Ivory Coast and The Gambia.
However, Mr Adams says decisions concerning the technical team do not fall under his remit.
“I don’t hire coaches, and I don’t fire coaches,” Mr Adams told Joy FM.
“You can direct your questions about the firing of the coach to the body that needs to [address it].”
Ghana’s poor run has intensified scrutiny of the team’s management, with the Black Stars winning just one of their past eight matches in all competitions.
They have also failed to win an AFCON qualifying match since September 2023.
Ghana currently sit bottom of Group C without a point after two matches, following a 2-0 defeat by Ivory Coast and a 4-2 loss to The Gambia after surrendering a two-goal lead in Accra.
The Black Stars will face Somalia twice in November at the Accra Sports Stadium as they seek to revive their qualification campaign.
