Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama Constituency in the Ashanti region, Mr Daniel Okyem Aboagye, says the crisis the National Democratic Congress (NDC) faced during its time of governance was due to reckless spending and borrowing.

According to the politician, the crisis NDC faced wasn’t due to external factors as it stated in its response to the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia when he addressed pertinent economic issues at a Town Hall meeting held on April 4, 2019.

“The crisis they were going through was not because of external factors as they claimed. It was due to their incompetence and reckless borrowing, reckless spending and the act of doing things without thinking,” he alleged.

He added that the NDC was in no position to teach them how to mobilise revenue since they performed woefully in their time of governance.

“When we talk about mobilising resources NDC is worse. How can you throw 35 million Ghana cedis into a factory without thinking about how you will generate raw material to help production?” he questioned.

“It was due to their reckless borrowing and lack of control, that was what the International Monetary Fund said in April 2015, it was due to reckless spending that took us to the state we were in, “ he said on Peace Fm, monitored by Adomonline.com.

He added that the incumbent government had the plight of Ghanaians at heart and that was why it organised the Town Hall meeting to let Ghanaians know the state of affairs and the way forward.

“This government is very sensitive to the concerns of Ghanaians, that was why the economic team in its own wisdom came out to show Ghanaians the way forward and the current state of the economy. This is not mere propaganda as they claimed,” he insisted.
