A Cape Coast circuit court has remanded into police custody a 45-year-old man, Adolf Coffie for allegedly killing his ex-girlfriend on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2017.
The suspect, who is also a security officer at the University Of Cape Coast (UCC), is alleged to have drugged the 32 year-old woman, raped her and after beat her mercilessly till she fell unconscious.
A hunter who happened to be on his usual expedition reportedly heard the scream of the woman and rushed to the scene.
According to the Central regional police PRO, ASP Irene Oppong, the unfortunate incident happened at the outskirts of Ankaful in the Central Region.
According to her, in an attempt to get rid of the dying woman, the hunter caught Adolf Coffie and threatened to kill him if the woman was not rushed to the hospital.
Upon reaching the roadside, the suspect bolted away leaving the nearly unconscious woman with the hunter.
ASP Irene Oppong continued that the woman died after she gave details of the man who drugged and molested her to death.
“The woman managed to mention the suspect’s name and where he works before she eventually died after a hunter chanced on the incident…” she said.
The police subsequently arrested Adolf and charged him with murder.
He has since been remanded into police custody by a Cape Coast High Court pending further investigations and due to reappear on January 9, 2018.
