The managing editor of the Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako says Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, John Peter Amewu erred for claiming state lands were given away to cronies like ”kelewele” [fried pieces of plantain] without regard to due process under John Dramani Mahama administration.
According to him, Mr. Amenu’s comment doesn’t depict that of a minister.
The sector Minister John Peter Amewu earlier this week in an interview claimed state lands were given away to cronies like ‘kelewele’ [fried pieces of plantain] without regard to due process.
The Rawlings administration was accused, under a divestiture programme, of selling state properties including the Nsawam cannery to the then first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.
He also accused ex- president Kufuor’s government of selling Ga lands to cronies.
But commenting on the matter on Joy News’ political programme, Newsfile, Saturday, the minister did not handle the matter well because he refused to make available full report on the issue.
“He actually said there is a committee working on it and that will bring the full report out, if the report is not out, why then do you come out with this matter without studying the documents. What is the minister’s aim?
“It is the same way these same politicians handle this ex-gratia thing by putting it on the streets where they know they will never win then it goes against them. So I don’t think the minister handled it well. He actually erred by throwing in kelewele issue. No one is making sense” he said.
