Founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministry International Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, has said the mysterious deaths at the Kumasi Academy in the Ashanti Region has spiritual connotation.
According to him, though doctors have confirmed that the outbreak is as a result of the H1N1 Influenza virus, he believes the death is spiritual and therefore should not be taken for granted.
‘I believe doctors and whatever they have diagnosed but I believe it’s not as easy as we see it and should be dealt with because what is happening in the school is spiritual and not normal at all” he said on Accra based Neat FM.
So far, four students have been reported dead at the Kumasi Academy since November 29, 2017, with several others hospitalized causing fear and panic among students and parents.
Health authorities struggled to identify the disease until Thursday when officials announced tests have revealed the disease as H1N1.
Ahead of that, students were between Tuesday and Thursday given broad-spectrum antibiotics with the hope of preventing further spread of the then unknown disease which was suspected caused by atypical bacteria.
Twenty-six blood samples were sent to Noguchi to be tested for Ebola, Marburg and Lassa but all came out negative, ruling out fears of the cause of deaths being Ebola as earlier speculated. Fifty-five samples which were sent to Kumasi Center for Collaborative Research (KCCR),with 13 blood samples,15 throat swabs and 10 Cerebro-spinal fluids to be tested for Meningitis, Encephalitis and Viral hemorrhagic fever (VHF), all tested negative as well. Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman Manu on Thursday revealed laboratory test results from the Noguchi Memorial Centre for Medical Research showed that majority of the samples from the students of KUMACA tested Positive for Influenza Type-A H1N1.
But commenting on the issue, Rev. Owusu Bempah called for a national prayer session to drive out of the evil spirits in the school.
The man of God explained that, the predicament is the handiwork of evil spirits which take delights in the suffering of God’s Children.
According to him, prayer is the only solution to the current situation at KUMACA since the devil despises prayers.
Rev. Owusu Bempah called on the general public to pray for God’s intervention in the crisis.
