Traders at Hweremoase Barrier in the Adansi North District of the Central Region on Wednesday demonstrated against the Fomena District Police Commander, Superintendent Yaw Asubonteng.
According to the traders, Supt Yaw Asubonteng together with his men have relocated the police barrier from Hweremoase to Akwanserem
The traders said they were not informed of the relocation and the Police Commander is preventing them from selling at the new barrier.
Amidst wailing and chanting, ‘yegye yen barrier’, the traders say they are demanding answers from the commander why he took that decision without their consent.
An elder of Hweremoase, Opanin Akwasi Teng accused the Police Commander of showing gross disrespect to the chief who is in Kumasi to mourn the late Nana Asante Hemaa.
According to Opanin Akwasi Teng the Commander had earlier hinted the chief of his intentions but the chief told him to find other alternative and therefore could not fathom why that sudden decision.
