Ghanaian singer Gyakie has finally addressed the circumstances surrounding her decision to withdraw from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) SRC event, saying the move was necessary to uphold professionalism and proper event coordination.
Her comments come days after speculation surrounded her absence from the programme, despite earlier promotional materials and announcements indicating that she would perform.
However, Gyakie publicly announced she would no longer be part of the event following what she described as a coordination challenge, prompting mixed reactions from students and fans.
Breaking her silence on the matter, the “Something” hitmaker said her decision had nothing to do with the audience or fear of being booed but rather the need for organisers to follow the right procedures to enable artistes to deliver quality performances.
“I don’t care if anyone booed at me then or now, but due process must be followed and the right thing must be done to ensure that artists give out their best.”
She stressed that she is not concerned about public criticism, insisting that professionalism should never be compromised.
“I’m committed to giving my fans my best and always leave them with a memorable experience,” she stated.
Her response appears to put to rest the speculation surrounding her withdrawal, while also highlighting the need for better planning and communication between event organisers and performers to avoid similar situations in the future.
