The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) and the Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) have announced a planned 5-hour shutdown of the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant on Monday, April 20, to complete critical system restoration works.
The shutdown will run from midnight to 5:00 a.m., according to a joint press release issued by the Corporate Affairs Directorates of the two state agencies on Sunday, April 19.
The agencies explained that the exercise is to finalise the replacement of the Burner Management System (BMS) at the Atuabo plant. A major fault developed in the system on April 15, resulting in “complete damage to the controller” and necessitating a full replacement.
“Currently, all enabling works toward replacing the BMS are approximately 90% complete,” the statement said. “To complete the installation, a planned shutdown of the Gas Processing Plant will be required.”
GRIDCo and Ghana Gas assured the public that technical and operational measures have been put in place to ensure the works are completed within the scheduled 5-hour window.
They further noted that steps have been taken to minimise the impact of the shutdown on consumers.
The companies apologised for any inconvenience caused and reiterated their commitment to maintaining a stable and reliable power supply.
