Black Stars winger Ernest Nuamah believes Ghana can achieve success at the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite facing a difficult challenge in Group L.
Ghana has been drawn against Panama, England and Croatia in a competitive group for the tournament, which will be staged across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Speaking to the Ghana Football Association media team, the 22-year-old admitted the task ahead will not be easy but expressed confidence in the team’s determination and commitment.
“The challenge ahead is not going to be easy, but with hard work and dedication, we are going to achieve something,” Nuamah said.
The Olympique Lyon winger is making a return to the Black Stars after spending over a year on the sidelines due to injury. Following his recovery, Nuamah thanked Ghanaians for their support during the difficult period and promised to give everything for the national team.
“We really want to give it all for the nation, for the flag. To Ghanaian fans, I just want to say, ‘Thank you to everyone for your support and your prayers. It hasn’t been easy for me to get an injury.’ I’ve worked really hard to get to this point, and I can’t wait to give my all.”
The Black Stars are currently in camp preparing for an international friendly against Wales on June 2 as part of preparations for the World Cup.
Ghana will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field before facing England at Gillette Stadium on June 23. The four-time African champions will conclude their group stage matches against Croatia on June 27.
The Black Stars will be aiming to advance beyond the group stage for the first time since their historic run to the quarter-finals at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
