The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has completed the construction and final tie-in of a 4-kilometre, 161kV Yendi Solar transmission line to the Tamale-Yendi transmission network.

The project, which was executed entirely by GRIDCo’s technical teams, is the longest transmission line project completed in-house by the company to date.

The work involved several stages, including tower erection, line stringing, testing, commissioning and energisation, as well as the integration of a 66MVA transformer into the transmission network.

According to GRIDCo, the project brought together expertise from various technical teams within the company and demonstrates its growing capacity to undertake major transmission infrastructure projects internally.

The completion of the line is expected to support the integration of renewable energy into Ghana’s national electricity grid, particularly by connecting the Yendi Solar project to the existing transmission network.

The achievement also highlights GRIDCo’s expanding technical capabilities and its contribution to strengthening Ghana’s transmission infrastructure and supporting the country’s renewable energy ambitions.
