The government has assured residents affected by the recent floods in six regions outside Greater Accra that emergency relief supplies will begin reaching their communities in the coming days.
Government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu gave the assurance while briefing journalists in Accra on Friday, July 3, 2026, saying logistics have been finalised to extend relief operations to flood-hit areas across the country.
He said the next phase of the response will cover the Central, Volta, Western, Ashanti, Western North and Eastern Regions, stressing that residents in those areas have not been left out of government’s recovery efforts.
“To our brothers and sisters in the Central Region, Volta, Western, Ashanti, Western North and the Eastern Regions, please be assured that you have not been forgotten,” he said.
According to him, the government initially prioritised communities in Greater Accra where flooding caused widespread displacement, but relief operations are now being expanded nationwide.
He disclosed that logistics teams are being deployed to transport what he described as “massive relief packages” to affected districts, adding that NADMO regional coordinators are already on the ground to facilitate distribution.
“Additional supplies will arrive in your communities starting tomorrow,” he stated.
Mr. Kwakye Ofosu urged residents to remain vigilant, adhere to safety directives and promptly report emergencies as authorities continue to coordinate flood response efforts.
He reaffirmed the Mahama administration’s commitment to supporting all affected communities until recovery efforts are completed.
“Your government will not rest until every displaced family is safely housed, every affected district is restored, and our communities are rebuilt to be stronger and more resilient against future weather anomalies,” he said.
He also commended emergency response agencies, security services, health workers and volunteers for their dedication to rescue and relief operations since the floods struck.
The government says it will continue to provide regular updates as relief distribution is expanded to affected communities across the country.
