The Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, has embarked on a historic royal visit to the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, where he is expected to pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The visit is being viewed as a significant step towards strengthening the already cordial relationship between the two powerful traditional kingdoms.
The Yagbonwura, accompanied by a high-powered delegation of divisional chiefs, elders, queen mothers and officials from the Gonja Kingdom, received warm receptions as his convoy passed through several communities, including Portor and Babator.
Residents and traditional leaders lined the streets, displaying rich cultural symbols of loyalty and respect.
The high-level engagement is expected to provide a platform for the two revered traditional rulers to discuss matters of mutual interest, promote peace and unity, and explore ways of preserving Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.

The visit is widely regarded as another positive milestone in fostering deeper cooperation and mutual respect between two of Ghana’s most influential traditional institutions. It also underscores the important role of traditional leadership in promoting national cohesion and cultural diplomacy.
