Head coach of the Ghana Black Stars, Carlos Queiroz, has expressed deep sympathy to victims of the recent devastating floods in Accra, assuring them that the entire national team stands in solidarity with them.

In a heartfelt message released on behalf of himself, his technical team, and the squad currently in the United States, the Portuguese tactician said the images and reports from the floods had deeply affected the players.

“On behalf of myself, my technical team and the entire Black Stars squad here in the United States, I want to express our deepest solidarity with the victims of the floods in Accra,” Queiroz stated.

He extended condolences to families who lost loved ones and sympathised with those displaced or affected by the disaster.

“To the families who have lost loved ones, those who have been displaced from their homes, and everyone affected, we are with you.

“The images and reports from home are heartbreaking, and even though we are here preparing for our World Cup match against Colombia, our thoughts have not left Ghana. When Accra suffers, we all suffer,” the statement read in part.

Queiroz noted that the team would carry the people of Accra in their hearts as they prepare for their upcoming match.

“We will carry the people of Accra in our hearts when we walk out at Kansas City Stadium on July 3. Your resilience is our inspiration. We will give everything to make you proud and bring some hope in this difficult time. Stay strong, Accra. Stay strong, Ghana. We stand with you.”

The message comes as the country continues to grapple with the impact of the heavy rains and flooding that have claimed lives, displaced thousands, and caused extensive damage to homes and infrastructure in the Greater Accra Region.

The Black Stars are currently in the United States preparing for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Colombia on July 3.
