GNFS rescue worker trapped in faulty elevator at Ho NCA office

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in the Volta Region swiftly rescued a worker who was trapped in a faulty elevator at the National Communications Authority (NCA) Office near the Kabore School Complex in Ho.

The incident occurred on Thursday, June 21, 2026. The GNFS received a distress call at 1:29 pm and promptly dispatched a rescue team, which arrived at the scene just six minutes later at 1:35 pm.

According to preliminary reports, two male workers were trapped inside the elevator while it was undergoing maintenance. One of the victims was successfully rescued by his colleagues and rushed to the Ho Teaching Hospital before the fire service team arrived.

Firefighters, led by DO III Victor Kudoadzi, used technical rescue procedures to safely extract the second trapped worker.

Thankfully, no further injuries were recorded during the operation. The cause of the elevator malfunction is still under investigation.

In a statement, the GNFS commended the quick response and professionalism of its personnel.

The Service also urged building owners and facility managers to ensure regular inspection and maintenance of elevators to prevent similar incidents.
