Maxwell Konadu has praised Kumasi Asante Kotoko players for their victory over Hearts of Oak on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors stunned the home team 2:1 to move to 4th position in the match-day six fixtures.

Justice Blay opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a towering header before Joseph Esso put the Phobians on level after the break.

Naby Keita wrapped up the three points through a penalty deep into injury time when Mohammed Alhassan handled the ball in the box.

Maxwell Konadu acknowledged his opponent’s improvement after their last meeting and believes the super clash befits the ‘El Classico’ tag.

“I think it was a very great game. Both teams did play well. It was an interesting game by all standards. I think that the game deserves the name El Classico and we’re all happy to be part of it. And I am happy my team won at the end of the day. It was a very difficult match.

“I know the team (Hearts) quite too well but I must be honest, this time around they have a very solid team,” the ex-BlackStars B coach said in the post-match interview.

“When the game is getting tough, there are so many tricks and stuff we bring on board. If you could see in the last minute I was signalling my goalkeeper to try something else because we were leading and we needed to do something to kill the game off,” he said.

Asante Kotoko will host Liberty Professionals at the Baba Yara Sports stadium for match-day seven.
