National Coordinator for Recreation and Wellness, Betty Crosby, has sparked debate after stating that Ghanaians have no right to travel abroad in search of greener pastures.

Speaking on Nnawotwe Yi on Adom TV, she expressed concern about the treatment of Ghanaians living abroad, particularly in countries such as South Africa where xenophobic attacks have been reported.

She argued that Ghana’s current economic situation does not warrant mass migration, insisting that citizens should instead stay and build opportunities locally.

According to her, unlike previous economic challenges under the administration of former President Nana Akufo-Addo, the current government led by President John Dramani Mahama has made significant improvements in the economy.

She cited factors such as the strengthening of the cedi and overall economic stability as evidence that conditions are now more favourable for business and investment in Ghana.

Betty Crosby, a member of the NDC National Communications Team, encouraged Ghanaians living abroad and facing harsh treatment to return home and establish businesses similar to what they operate overseas.

She maintained that there is no better place than home, adding that many people migrated due to past economic hardship but should now consider returning to enjoy peace of mind and improved opportunities locally.
