Most football enthusiasts and administrators have openly accepted the dwindling trend in Ghana football.
But Chairman of the Division One League Board, Owoahene Acheampong has attributed to problem to bad press.
In his view, the media has painted a bad picture and given a bad image to football in the country.
The consequences Mr. Owoahene Acheampong noted driven more companies willing to sponsor the Ghana Premier league.
“I blame the Ghanaian media for lack of sponsorship for the football products like the Premier League and Division One League. They have tarnished the image of the Football brand making it difficult for corporate Ghana to come on board and sponsor”, he told Asempa Fm.
The Ghana Premier League has gone two seasons without sponsorship and the Division One league could lose its three years sponsorship deal with GN Bank if not renewed.
