The Foreign Affairs Minister-designate is promising the establishment of passport application centres in all regions of the country if passed by Parliament.

Currently, there are passport application centres in six regions and Madam Shirley Ayorkor Botchway is assuring the opening of addition four in the Eastern, Upper East, Upper West and the Central region.

She disclosed this while answering questions posed by members of the Appointment Committee of Parliament during her vetting Monday.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Anya Sowutuom indicated that, the passport office is challenged when documents sent by applicants cannot be authenticated.

This, she attributed to the mistakes on the application forms or with the documentation sent with the forms.

She also noted that, the new online application system would correct the delays in passport acquisition especially with renewal for students and other in abroad.

Ms. Ayorkor Botchway pledge her commitment to ensure the difficulties that has characterized the acquisition of passports in the country becomes a thing of the past.
