The Ablekuma South Member of Parliament, Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije said President Akufo-Addo during his ‘State of the Nation’ address failed to acknowledge former President Mahama.

According to him, President Akufo Addo rather took the credit for himself as far as developmental projects he (Mahama) undertook as president of the country is concerned.

After Nana Addo delivered the State of the Nation Address, one of the key messages that running through the mouths of the Minorities in Parliament was the fact that President Nana Addo failed to acknowledge Ex- president John Dramani Mahama for his contribution to the development sector.

According to Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, the previous government tried at all cost to stimulate developmental infrastructures that will unequivocally help the incumbent government carry out their respective policies such the ‘Free SHS’ program among other things hence should be given credit where its due.

“He projected Mahama down to give himself the credit He should have said the Mahama-led government has developed the infrastructures because all were put in place for the NPP…” he noted.

However, it is with this that, Dr Vanderpuye says the address served as a propaganda falling in line of the campaign messages which were professed by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to win votes from the citizenry.

“He did not acknowledge the past government. He did it in a way to continue the propaganda message of their campaign which is a disservice to the country. He (President Akufo-Addo) came in to say the same things he said during the 2016 electioneering campaign; claiming the financial services are down and all that is wrong…” he said.

Nevertheless, he maintained that President Akufo-Addo should focus on solving state problems and not to talk about the problems.

He stressed that Nana Addo should generate solutions to the problems since making statements about it yields no change.

“You are now the president and expected to solve problems. Effective leadership means he should come out and tell us what he is going to do to solve the problem and not to talk about the same problems. That is what will move Ghana forward…” he said.
