The Managing Director of the Ghana Airport Company has been removed in what is expected to be another round of a non-ministerial reshuffle.

John Dekyem Attafuah has been asked to proceed on leave, a political euphemism in Ghana for removal from office. Myjoyonline.com sources say he is expected to be reassigned.

The Board of the airport company, which manages all airports and aerodromes, is headed by Oboshie Sai-Coffie and has not been dissolved as reported in some sections of the media.

Mr Dekyem Attafuah has been MD for 22 months following his appointment in March 2017.

The source explained that the decision to reshuffle the government was reached during a government retreat at Peduase Lodge in December 2018.

The non-ministerial reshuffle is the second by the Akufo-Addo government. In June 2018, the government announced the removal of four heads of state institutions.
