The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, has undertaken an inspection tour of flood-affected communities following heavy rains that impacted parts of the municipality.

The visit was aimed at assessing the condition of a damaged bridge and evaluating the extent of flooding experienced by residents and commuters.

The inspection was conducted together with the Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (National Disaster Management Organisation), officials of the Municipal Assembly, and other stakeholders to obtain firsthand information on the situation and coordinate immediate response measures.

According to the Municipal Chief Executive, the exercise forms part of government’s efforts to protect lives, preserve public infrastructure, and ensure rapid interventions to restore normalcy in affected communities.

She indicated that relevant agencies have since been directed to intensify remedial works and strengthen collaboration to address the identified challenges and reduce the risk of future incidents.

Hon. Ocloo further assured residents that the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council remains actively engaged with all relevant institutions to ensure a timely and sustainable solution to the situation.

The recent rains caused disruptions in some parts of the municipality, raising concerns over drainage systems and the resilience of public infrastructure during extreme weather conditions.
