Funeral arrangements have been announced for renowned inventor, industrialist and founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Kantanka.
According to details released by the Head of the Kantanka Family, Sarah Adwoa Safo, together with the Kristo Asafo Mission and the Funeral Planning Committee, the revered inventor will be laid to rest on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Gomoa Mpota.
A national farewell ceremony will also be held at Independence Square on Friday, July 31, where dignitaries, traditional leaders, church members, industrialists and admirers from across Ghana and beyond are expected to gather to honour his memory.
The final funeral rites will conclude with a thanksgiving service on Saturday, August 1, at Jackson Park in celebration of his life and achievements.
Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo was widely celebrated for championing indigenous innovation and promoting self-reliance through technology and industrialisation in Ghana.
He founded the Kristo Asafo Mission in 1971 and later established Kantanka Group, which became known for automobile manufacturing, engineering and technological innovation.
Through Kantanka Automobile, he gained national and international recognition for producing vehicles designed to suit African roads and conditions, while also introducing innovations in agriculture, electronics and machinery.
Beyond his work in technology and manufacturing, Apostle Kwadwo Safo was also recognised for his philanthropic efforts, particularly in education, healthcare, job creation and skills training for young people.
Since news of his passing, tributes have continued to pour in from across the country, with many describing him as a symbol of African creativity, resilience and innovation.
