A newly constructed court building at Asankrangwa in the Western Region has been gutted by fire, leaving behind partial damage.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown. However, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) reports that residents spotted thick smoke emanating from the building before the fire escalated.

Fire personnel responded promptly and arrived at the scene within minutes to find the building already engulfed in flames.

Firefighters quickly deployed dry chemical powder extinguishers and managed to bring the blaze under control shortly after arrival, preventing it from spreading further within the facility.

Although the structure suffered some damage, an ECG meter and a three-phase breaker were completely destroyed, while portions of electrical service cables were also affected.

No casualties were recorded in the incident. Fire officers say investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
