Fire destroys two-bedroom portion of compound house at Asokore

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has contained a fire outbreak at Asokore, near the Asokore Rest House in Koforidua.

The incident occurred on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at a 17-bedroom compound house.

According to the GNFS, firefighters from the New Juaben North Municipal Fire Station received a distress call at 4:01 p.m. and arrived at the scene at 4:11 p.m., led by ADO II Awuku.

Upon arrival, the team found a two-bedroom portion of the compound house engulfed in flames.

Firefighting operations brought the fire under control at 4:37 p.m., with the blaze completely extinguished at 5:00 p.m.

The contents of the affected portion were completely destroyed, but firefighters successfully prevented the fire from spreading to the remaining sections of the building.

No injuries or casualties were recorded.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The GNFS has urged residents to practise good housekeeping and report fire outbreaks promptly to help minimise damage and protect lives and property.
