Ghanaian forward Felix Afena-Gyan has completed a permanent move to Turkish club Iğdır FK from Italian side Cremonese, bringing an end to his three-year spell with the Serie B outfit.
The 22-year-old finalised the transfer on Thursday after signing a two-year contract, following an impressive loan spell with Turkish side Amedspor during the 2025/26 season.
Afena-Gyan enjoyed one of the best campaigns of his career at Amedspor, scoring five goals and providing six assists to help the club secure promotion to the Turkish Super Lig.
His impressive performances attracted interest from several clubs, with Iğdır FK eventually winning the race for his signature.
The Ghana international first rose to prominence at AS Roma, where he made an immediate impact under then-manager Jose Mourinho.
His breakthrough performances earned him a reported €7.5 million move to Cremonese in 2022.
However, the striker struggled to establish himself as a regular starter during his time in Italy.
A season-long loan spell in Turkey proved to be a turning point, allowing him to rediscover his form and rebuild his confidence.
Despite his resurgence, Afena-Gyan was left out of Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz opting for other attacking options.
His move to Iğdır FK presents a fresh opportunity to continue his development in Turkish football while strengthening his case for a return to the Black Stars ahead of future international assignments.
