The Gomoa Ojobi District Police Command has apprehended a man for parading himself as a police officer working at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.

He was arrested for harassing and extorting money from developers and sand winners at Awutu Duodu near Gomoa Akraman.

According to information, the suspect in police uniform and gadget went to a sand winning site near Gomoa Akraman and claimed he had been deployed by the CID boss to investigate the death of Gomoa Akraman Gyasehene.

Gyasehene of Gomoa Akraman, Nana Egyiri Ahor, known as Osibo, was killed by unknown assailants in broad daylight late last year.

In an interview with Adom News, one of the workers at the sand winning site called Manager, said upon confrontation, the man quickly took his motorbike and sped off.

He was, however, apprehended and when questioned revealed he obtained the uniform when some police officers on the side mistakenly left it after an operation.

The Ojobi Police say they are investigating the matter after which he will be arraigned.
