Executive Director of the Institute of Energy Security (IES), Paa Kwesi Anamoah Sakyi, has described the comments made by Energy Minister, Peter Amewu on the happenings at Krobo Odumase in the Eastern Region as a sign of frustration.

Mr Sakyi also opined that an earlier intervention from the minister would have prevented the situation from escalating to the level it has reached currently.

He noted, however, that the minister was right in condemning the actions of PDS, acknowledging also that some of Mr Amewu’s words were harsh.

Mr Sakyi said he believed the minister’s comments were made out of frustration,” he said.

“It is better late than never but there are ways through which this issue could have been resolved amicably. Causing someone to lose his life was definitely not the way and I believe they could have handled it better,” he stated on Accra-based Neat FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.

Mr Sakyi added, “someone’s inefficiency must not cause someone to suffer so PDS should have known the bills of the Krobo residents are an accumulated debt and there is no way they could have recovered all those monies in a day.”

Chaos broke out at Manya Kpongunor in the Lower Manya Krobo District of the Eastern region over mass disconnection exercise by Power Distribution Services (PDS) over unpaid bills leading to the death of one person and others injured.
