Energy Minister receives Akosombo Substation fire report, commends investigative committee

Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, has received the final report of the committee established to investigate the fire outbreak at the Akosombo Substation.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, June 11, Dr Jinapor announced that the committee, chaired by Ing. Amuna, had completed its work and submitted its findings to the government.

The Minister commended the committee for its diligence, professionalism, and commitment in carrying out the assignment.

“I wish to express my appreciation to the Ing. Amuna Committee for their diligence, professionalism, and commitment in carrying out this important assignment,” he stated.

According to Dr Jinapor, the government will carefully review the report and take the necessary steps to implement its recommendations.

He stressed that the government’s priority is to ensure accountability where necessary, prevent similar incidents in the future, and protect the integrity of the country’s electricity transmission infrastructure.

“Our focus remains on ensuring accountability where required, preventing future occurrences, and safeguarding the integrity of the national electricity transmission system,” he noted.

Dr Jinapor further disclosed that relevant institutions have already been tasked with developing and implementing a comprehensive action plan based on the committee’s recommendations.

The measures, he said, will include enhanced safety protocols, infrastructure upgrades, strengthened risk management systems, and periodic audits of critical power installations across the country.

The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining a stable and secure power supply while continuously improving systems that support national development.

Dr Jinapor assured the public that further updates would be provided after the government completes its review of the report and determines the appropriate course of action.
