The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has inaugurated the governing boards of the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) and the Ghana Library Authority (GLA).
The CTVET board will be chaired by Nii Doodo Dodoo, while Dr. Michael Ato Essuman will lead the GLA board.
In his remarks, the Minister urged the CTVET board to work towards enhancing the quality of Technical and Vocational Education and Training, with the goal of improving the skills and employability of young graduates.
He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to establishing a dedicated TVET fund to support the sector’s operations and long-term development.
Addressing the GLA board, Mr. Iddrisu tasked members with transforming Ghana’s library system to align with modern educational needs. He urged them to lead the creation of presidential libraries to honour all former presidents and to expand access to libraries in rural communities.
He further encouraged the board to strengthen STEM education, promote a culture of reading, and enhance digital literacy.
“Our libraries must become hubs of innovation and lifelong learning,” he stressed.
