Residents of Dominase in the Asunafo North Municipality of the Ahafo Region now have access to safe drinking water following the commissioning of a $250,000 ultra-modern water system funded by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation in partnership with World Vision.
The project, implemented in collaboration with the Asunafo North Municipal Assembly, is expected to address the community’s long-standing potable water challenges.
Speaking to Adom News at the commissioning ceremony, World Vision’s Programme Associate Director for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Robel Wamisho, said the project, which began in February 2025, was designed to provide residents with reliable and accessible potable water.
He explained that the facility, fully funded by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, has a storage capacity of 100,000 litres and is capable of serving the entire community. He added that about 200 households have already been connected to the system, with plans to extend the service to an additional 1,000 households in the coming years.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Asunafo North, Joseph Akparibo, described the project as a major relief for residents, noting that the community had relied on boreholes over the years, many of which did not provide safe drinking water.

He said the new water system would significantly improve the health and well-being of residents and assured the public that measures had been put in place to ensure the facility is properly maintained.
According to the MCE, a dedicated foundation has been assigned to oversee the sustainability of the project, expressing confidence that the system would be effectively managed for the benefit of future generations.
Mr. Akparibo further assured residents that the Assembly remains committed to extending potable water supply to other communities facing similar challenges across the municipality.
The Chief of Dominase, Nana Opoku Agyemang, expressed gratitude to World Vision and the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation for bringing lasting relief to the community after years of struggling to access clean water.
The newly commissioned water system is fitted with smart meters to improve efficiency, monitor consumption and promote sustainable water management.
