Aide to the NPP flagbearer, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to move beyond expressions of sympathy and urgently outline concrete measures to protect residents of Accra as fears of more rainfall continue to mount.

In a post on X on Tuesday morning, the former government spokesperson questioned what immediate interventions had been put in place following the President’s aerial assessment of flood-hit communities on Monday.

“Mr. Prez was in the air yesterday checking on us and verifying whether indeed we have been flooded the way he was seeing and reading in the news. Fair deal!!!

“But today is Tuesday, it’s the day after the chopper trip…and the clouds are still gathering. Looks even darker, angrier and gloomier than it looked on Saturday night.”

Dennis Miracles Aboagye called for an emergency Cabinet meeting to take “specific, clear-cut decisions” aimed at preventing further loss of lives as more rains are expected.

“Dear Mr. P, can we know the time for the emergency cabinet meeting today to take specific, clear-cut decisions in ensuring the rains coming today and the day after today will not take our lives away like you saw from the air…”

He further urged the President to disclose the findings from the anti-flood technical committee and explain the government’s immediate response plan.

“Mr. P, can you kindly describe what you saw from the chopper and based on the brief you have received from the anti-flood technical committee, what their solutions are in ensuring we do not lose our lives again in the coming days.”

According to him, the flooding crisis has spread across the capital, affecting communities beyond the traditionally flood-prone areas.

“Mr. P, the floods are wiping away the capital city, not just a few; the entire city is under siege.”

He stressed that Ghanaians now need practical action rather than assurances.

“SOLUTIONS, that’s what we need now sir, not assurances, not commiserations, not empathy. SOLUTIONS!”

Expressing concern over the weather conditions, he said many residents were anxious as dark clouds continued to gather over the city.

“It’s 8 a.m. sir, the clouds are angrily gathering and some of us are scared—so scared we are wondering where we can hide.”

He ended his message with a direct appeal to the President to announce immediate measures that would help residents withstand any fresh downpour.

“CAN YOU KINDLY SIR, TELL US WHAT YOUR SOLUTION IS!!!

“Tell us what you are going to do to protect us today, not the future. Today’s rain must be survived first!!

“I AM NERVOUS SIR!! Seeing the clouds gather!!!”
