The suspects were arrested during the match between Hearts of Oak and Elmina Sharks

The Police yesterday arrested two men for selling complimentary tickets at the Accra Sports Stadium during a Ghana Football Association (GFA) Special Competition match.

The arrest was made when the police got a tip-off that complimentary tickets, which were supposed to be used by officials of the GFA, were being sold.

Report indicated that the culprit, who was caught on a motorbike with registration number M-19-GW 632 GH, was a driver of a GFA member.

Communications Head of Accra Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo has confirmed that, the suspects are currently with the Accra Central Police.

“It was a matter of concern to us; you will be hearing some people are selling tickets here and there so we also decided to be extra vigilant and make sure that the head of security and all of us be on guard to make sure we don’t lose revenue through the sale of unauthorised tickets.

“So the head of security alerted us that he has seen somebody selling complimentary tickets, so he expressed interest in buying them, the seller mentioned a name and further mentioned other accomplices whom he can get more of the tickets from. So he (the seller) led him to those accomplices so the Police have arrested them,” he added.

Complimentary tickets are not for sale for any football match in Ghana.

Hearts of Oak defeated Elmina Sharks 3-1 in the match-day 13 of the Normalisation Committee Special Competition.
