The Agona-Nkwanta Police Command in the Western Region has launched a manhunt for 10 armed robbers who robbed two mates of a BMC truck with registration Number GE 2987-11 belonging to the Produce Buying Company at gunpoint.
The mates, Evans Fosu and Halidu Braimah were travelling from Dunkwa On Offin to Takoradi with their driver, Emmanuel Forson when their vehicle developed a mechanical fault upon reaching Apimanim, a farming community in the Ahanta West District.
The driver decided around 1.30am to move to Takoradi to look for a professional mechanic to fix the truck which was carrying about 600 bags of cocoa leaving the two mates behind.
A police source told Empire News’ Emmanuel Ohene Gyan that about 2:00am while the two mates were keeping watch over the vehicle, ten (10) masked armed men attacked them and made away with 28 bags of cocoa beans valued about GH¢13,160.00 by packing them into an unregistered Kia truck.
It is unclear whether the victims sustained any form of injury.
The police is appealing to residents in the area to help with any information that can lead to the arrest of the robbers.
